The Cordillera Raura is a chain of mountains that extends on the border between the departments of Lima and Huánuco.
This beautiful mountain range has its highest point in the snowy Yarupá, which reaches 5,750 meters above sea level.
This mountain range, which is part of the Peruvian Andes, has the peculiarity of having the shape of a horseshoe and presenting an average length of 25 km.
Among the most important snow-capped peaks that make up the Raura Mountain Range are: Cerro Patrón, which has a height of 5,273 meters above sea level; the Nevado Santa Rosa, 5,650 meters above sea level; Crystal Tower, 5,400 meters above sea level; Siete caballeros, which is a group of glaciers, among others.
But the Cordillera Raura not only has snow-capped mountains, but also beautiful lagoons such as Lauricocha, which is a lagoon of glacial origin, where it is possible to take boat rides, as well as take pictures of the surrounding fauna.
Other lagoons found in the mountain range are “Niñococha”, Niño Perdido lagoon, Caballococha, among others.
It is known that this mountain range presents attractive mountains for mountaineers, not in vain, expeditions and ascents have been recorded since 1906, when Ann Peck made the first ascent to the Santa Rosa glacier.
